I’m Raquel, the owner of Alt Raq Apparel. That’s me; you’ve probably seen me around on the site! I’m 21 years old from Philadelphia, and I attend Cornell University where I study Fiber Science and Apparel Design. I do everything here at Alt Raq Apparel from material sourcing to designing and sewing to packing orders.

I aim to make shopping from me a personal, unique experience because nothing makes a piece of clothing more special than seeing every step of the way as it is made and getting to know the designer. At Alt Raq Apparel, all materials are purchased second-hand from fabric warehouses that collect excess yardage from brands and factories. As I make my pieces, not a single thread is thrown away. All of these scraps are incorporated into one-of-a-kind pieces that are just as functional as they are beautiful due to the strength of the quilted scraps.
